Work have been very stressful for me recently with no signs of stopping. So stressed I can’t really focus on other stuff… except for puzzle games.
I don’t know why but it right now playing a puzzle game is the one of the things that can calm me. When I play, I hardly think of the hell that is my job until my break ends. I’m not sure if this is a good sign or a bad sign but I’m not complaining.
I been getting some Puzzle League in recently. I my chaining abilities are coming back slowly. The first gameplay footage I posted on my own YouTube was a Puzzle League game.
Last weekend I won that tournament for Tetris Party Deluxe on the Wii. I beat most of the crowd with simple two-wide combos and Tetrises. Ironically, I didn’t get the right practice because I had a packed weekend. When I shared the news on Hard Drop I got a few remarks if any of my opponents were actually good of if they knew T-Spins, 3-wides, etc. I brushed it off. I know I have a long way before I can call myself a contender in Tetris but I am will to put the work in.
I have been into another puzzle game as of late, Puzzle Quest 2. It combines puzzle game and RPG elements, not only do you have to worry about how each move affects you but how your moves affect your opponent. I could go on with the depth of this game but the that would need its own post.
Yup, puzzles seem to be my thing right now. Not sure if this will be permanent. We’ll see once my stress at work dies down. 🙂
One movie I am looking forward to is King of Chinatown.
King of Chinatown follows Justin Wong’s journey to Street Fighter supremacy, under the watchful eye of his manager Triforce. This movie also features other Street Fighter personalities such as Daigo, Gootecks, Sanford, Seth Killian, many more. If you look carefully you might see a certain somebody chilling “royally” in the background. 😉
You can be one of the first to see this movie for yourself on Tuesday August 3 2010 in New York. Go to KingofChinatown.com for the full info. If you can’t make it to the first screening don’t panic. You can request a special screening in your area.
Yes! I finally did it!
Yesterday I got my first tournament victory in Tetris. It was at Battlefield Arcadia XVII. It was small, only 6 or so players. But I still feel good about this victory.
But that rise didn’t come without a hard drop (pardon the pun). I played Triforce in the Grand Master match. I lost by a mile but Triforce did acknowledge the I have gotten better since Funspot. I can thank what I learned at HardDrop.com for that.
I will take this Tetris win and motivate myself to become an even better player.
Now if I can do the same thing for Street Fighter…
I just saw the trailer for season two of WCG Ultimate Gamer and I must say this trailer is very interesting. I recognized a few faces on there, although that would most likely not mean much to a completely new viewer. Some people are already making prediction on who will place where. I’m not gonna do that because you tend to shoot yourself in the foot as the show progresses.
I also can see all the drama complaints coming but hey, it’s reality TV. Producers practically manufacture all the drama for that genre of show. So if you can’t stand reality TV the you most likely won’t like this show.
I noticed a few Wii games in there. Odd. When I audition and told them that Wii was my preferred platform the casting director said, “Well this is 360 here.” Meh. I doubt any of the contestant’s Wii skills are even near my level and you all can quote me on THAT!
Well, overall the season looks very interesting and I’m looking forward to watching it next month.
Yesterday was not good for me at all. At work I was fatigued and/or in pain for most of the day. This new job is giving more issues than any other job I have had before. But I still need work so I might as well ride this out.
On the way home some woman got uppity and forced the bus driver to stop the bus. That crap made my commute an hour and a half longer! Some people don’t know how to behave!
When I got home. I really didn’t feel like playing anything although I have a potential tournament to go to. I tried to force myself to play Tetris but I didn’t have a clear enough head for my A-game.
Well, hopefully tomorrow will be different and can get in some decent practice in.
I have uploaded my first gameplay video to my YouTube. Me playing some Planet Puzzle League. More videos to come…
