Evo 2012 Results

A lot a great moments happened at Evo. And I have the results.

SoulCalibur V

Shining Depocon pretty much shocked everyone by winning with Tira, a character that was not expected to do well at the event let alone the whole thing. He really wowed the crowd whenever he was on stream. Honorable mention goes to Whoahzz from NJ for getting forth. I actually played him a few weeks ago. It’s good to see someone from my area place high.

1. Shining Decopon (Tira)
2. Shen Chan (Cervantes)
3. Something-Unique (Pyrrha)
4. Woahzz (α Patroklos)
5. CRNA|Ruka (Patroklos)
5. Xephukai (Astaroth, Patroklos)
7. Kamaage (Mitsurugi)
7. CafeID|Kura (Patroklos)

Street Fighter X Tekken

Infiltration and Laugh took this one, beating the team of PR Balrog and Rick Ortiz in the final match. Team chemistry was key for the players can switch any moment. Not easy to do.

1. WW.MCZ|Infiltration + Laugh (Rolento/Ryu)
2. EG|Ricky Ortiz + CVPR|PR Balrog (Rufus/Ryu)
3. RZR|Fuudo + MCZ|Tokido (Ryu/Chun-Li)
4. coL.CC|Combofiend + Mike Ross (Julia/Marduk)

Virtua Fighter 5 Final Showdown

Despite it being a downloadable game, VF5FS seem to have pleased the crowd. Fuudo (Last year’s SF4 champ) takes this one.

1. RZR|Fuudo (Shun)
2. Shironuko (El Blaze)
3. RZR|Itabashi Zangief (Shun)

King of Fighters XIII

The KOF series has been awfully quite in recent Evos but not this year’s. The fighting game gods blessed us with some the great action between Mad KOF and Bala in the grand finals. The best moment from the match by far is Mad KOF inching to a would-be OCV (one character victory) to a phenomenal comeback from Bala’s Takuma.

1. CafeID|Mad KOF (Duo Lon/Chin/Kim)
2. IGL|BALA (Billy/Takuma/Shen, Ralf/Takuma/Shen, Clark/Takuma/Shen, Benimaru/Shen/Takuma)

Ultimate Marvel Vs. Capcom 3

The Marvel Vs. Capcom series has been a long-time mainstay for Evo and for good reason. The FGC seems to love the hype behind it. Filipino Champ and Infrit lived up to the hype in grand finals.

Super Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition (2012)

Earlier version of SF4 was plagued with overpowered characters, the pre-patch AE being the worst offender with the overpowered Yun. But the 2012 update did its job. Each of the top eight represented different characters. Infiltration beats Gamerbee for title. The highest placing American was PR Balrog, who placed even higher than Daigo.

1. WW.MCZ|Infiltration (Akuma)
2. AVerMedia|Gamerbee (Adon)
3. CVPR|PR Balrog (Balrog)
4. eLivePro.Qanba|XiaoHai (Cammy)
5. MCZ|Daigo Umehara (Ryu)
5. Human Bomb (Sakura)
7. BT|Dieminion (Guile)
7. TH|Poongko (Seth)

Well, that ends the recap. See ya next year!
